Dev Blog 05 – DRM, Art, and More

Brad Hill Dev Blog

It’s been awhile since our last update and we have some important news to share with our community. We are happy to announce that along with releasing on Steam we will be releasing a DRM free version of the game as well! Now even if you aren’t part of the Steam community or just aren’t a fan of DRM you can experience Project Orion on your terms. This decision came as a combination of community feedback and the team’s personal opinions on DRM.  Our current DRM-free distribution plan revolves around using the Humble Widget and Store, a service we really appreciate.

Project Updates

We are hard at work bringing Project Orion to life. Our artists continue to work on updating the ships and other assets to really give the game a visual overhaul. Here is a preview of the the latest revision of the Orion itself! Look forward to updates on the new TDF capital ship design and more in the near future.

We had a fantastic two days showing off Project Orion at the Ottawa International Game Conference earlier this week. A huge thank you to everyone who took the pilot’s seat to try the current version of the game. It was great to watch everyone experience the game and discuss what we had planned for the future.

Once again we would like to thank our backers, your support and encouragement mean a lot to us. If you have any feedback, comments, or just want to introduce yourself please visit the official forum here, we really look forward to hearing from you.  By request we will be releasing a full uncut gameplay video from Project Orion in the next few days, so stay tuned for that and other exciting news.
